Updated NFL Playoff Picture Heading into Week 16

Just three weeks are remaining in the 2021 NFL season, and there are still 13 playoff spots available. The addition of an extra Wild Card spot has added some intrigue, but there has also been a ton of competition within each division this season.

Injuries and COVID-19 will affect some of the action over the final three weeks, but the league is doing all it can to get the games in as scheduled. A majority of the games in Weeks 16, 17, 18 will impact the playoff race, and about 20 teams will remain in the race until the end of the year. So much parity in the NFL gives fans plenty of sports betting opportunities.

If the regular season is any indication of how competitive the playoffs are going to be, then it is going to be a great month of January.

Packers In, Three Teams Are Close

Through Week 15, the Green Bay Packers are the only team that has clinched a division title as they have won the NFC North yet again. It makes sense that the Packers were the first to win the division because they have dominated the North over the past two decades.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have clinched the NFC North.

Three other teams are close to wrapping up a division title, including one that blew a great chance at winning that title in Week 15. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just one win away from capturing the NFC South crown, but they suffered a 9-0 loss at home to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night.

The other two teams that should wrap up a division title soon are the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs. Dallas has a big lead in the NFC East Division, and the Chiefs have pulled away from the pack in the AFC West.

These four teams should all factor into the Super Bowl race once the playoffs begin, as all four have been the betting favorites since the season started.

AFC North Race is Complicated

The other four divisions that don’t have a clear winner will all be fun races to follow, but none are as crazy as the AFC North. A new team seems to emerge as the betting favorite to win the AFC North after each week is completed, and it’s hard to predict who wins this title.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens are now in the lead at 8-6 on the year, and it feels like the Bengals have more momentum than the Ravens. Cincinnati also holds the tiebreaker as they are 3-1 in divisional play while the Ravens are just 1-3.

The Pittsburgh Steelers enter Week 16 with a 7-6-1 record, while the Cleveland Browns are still in the mix at 7-7. All four teams can still win the AFC North Division title, and each team can still miss out on the playoffs entirely. There will be plenty of drama over the final three weeks in that division.

Wild Card Battles Heating Up

The goal for every team is obviously to win the division, but there is also a path to the playoffs by being a Wild Card team. The Wild Card race in the NFL is always crazy every year, but there is some extra drama this season.

In the AFC, there are currently nine teams battling for the three Wild Card spots, and tie-breaking scenarios will come into effect this season. The AFC has 13 of the 16 teams with a record of at least .500 entering Week 16.

The NFC isn’t quite as jumbled as there are only nine teams with a serious shot at reaching the postseason. Some teams at 6-8 can still make a run, but the bottom of the NFC is not nearly as strong as the bottom of the AFC.

Updated Betting Odds to win 2022 NBA Finals

The NBA season is nearly two months old, but the league hasn’t garnered much attention since the NFL is always dominating the headlines. This has also been a pretty crazy NBA season, and the odds to win the NBA Championship have been adjusted a number of times.

Here is a look at the updated odds to win the NBA Finals with a breakdown of some of the teams in the mix.

Favorites

  • Brooklyn Nets +260
  • Golden State Warriors +600
  • Milwaukee Bucks +700
  • Phoenix Suns +900

The Brooklyn Nets have been the betting favorites to win the NBA Finals since the odds were first announced, and they have remained in that position since. Brooklyn is still at the top of the Eastern Conference, and rumor has it that Kyrie Irving is about to join the team soon.

Golden State has been playing the entire season with Klay Thompson and James Wiseman, but both players are going to make their debut in January. That will make the Warriors a serious threat to win the Western Conference and then become a threat to win the title.

Milwaukee and Phoenix are both included as well with the group of favorites, but each team still has some serious flaws that will need to be fixed before they win the title. The Bucks are the defending champions, but they have some work to do before they are the favorites in the East.

Contenders

  • Los Angeles Lakers +1000
  • Utah Jazz +1100
  • Miami Heat +1200

It’s pretty hard to separate the favorites from the contenders when it comes to the NBA betting odds, but there are three teams that need to be considered as in the mix. All three of these teams could easily win the championship this season, but a little bit of luck might be needed.

The Lakers were one of the top betting picks to begin the year, but the odds have fallen all the way down to +1000. The Miami Heat are another team that should be a threat to win it all, but those odds are currently at +1200.

Darkhorses

  • LA Clippers +2100
  • Philadelphia 76ers +2400
  • Denver Nuggets +2400
  • Chicago Bulls +3000

All four teams in the darkhorse category are legitimate title contenders, but there is one team that really sticks out above the rest. The Chicago Bulls have come out of nowhere this season, but that roster has what it takes to win a title.

The NBA is not like other sports in that underdogs don’t typically make a run at the NBA Championship, but this is not a normal year. You need to keep a close eye on every team on this list, but the Chicago Bulls appear to be the team with the best chance to surprise and win an NBA Championship.

Longshots

  • Dallas Mavericks +3600
  • Atlanta Hawks +3600
  • Boston Celtics +6500
  • Memphis Grizzlies +8000
  • New York Knicks +8000

When it comes to other professional sports, looking at the list of longshots actually presents a pretty solid betting opportunity. This isn’t usually the case with the NBA as there aren’t typically a number of major upsets in the NBA Playoffs.

The one team on this list of longshots to keep an eye on is the Boston Celtics at +6500. Boston has been in the Eastern Conference Finals as recently as two seasons ago, and that is still a roster that is full of exciting talent.

The rest of the teams on this list have enough talent to make some noise in the NBA postseason, but winning the title just doesn’t seem like a realistic option.

Betting Odds to win 2021 NFL MVP

We have reached Week 15 of the NFL regular season, and that means that there are just four weeks to go. Four more opportunities for teams to play themselves into the playoff race and four more weeks for players to win the NFL MVP Award.

These NFL MVP odds have been changing throughout the season, but you aren’t going to see much movement from here on out. The list of top candidates is pretty well set, and it’s starting to become clear as to which players are legitimate MVP candidates.

Here is a look at the current betting odds to win the 2021 NFL MVP Award:

  • Tom Brady -165
  • Aaron Rodgers +500
  • Patrick Mahomes +1200
  • Dak Prescott +1400
  • Justin Herbert +1400
  • Kyler Murray +1400
  • Matthew Stafford +1400
  • Jonathan Taylor +2500
  • Josh Allen +2500

With only four weeks remaining in the regular season, there really are just nine candidates in the NFL MVP race. The betting odds show that this race might actually already be wrapped up, but things can change in a hurry in the NFL.

Brady Now the Favorite

Tom Brady is now the clear betting favorite to win the NFL MVP Award, which is remarkable considering the quarterback’s age. Brady was always going to be in the conversation, but he might be having the best year of his career.

The future Hall of Famer just led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a title a season ago, and he could have them in a position to do it again this season. Brady just continues to rack up the passing yards, and he doesn’t turn the ball over.

Aaron Rodgers is another veteran quarterback that is having one of the best years of his career. Rodgers now has odds set at +500 to win the MVP Award, which has him at second place on the list.

Brady and Rodgers have been two of the best players in the NFL for more than a decade, and it looks like the MVP Award is going to come down to these veteran quarterbacks again in 2021.

Allen Fading, Mahomes Rising

Before the 2021 season, it looked as if the MVP Award was going to come down to a pair of young AFC quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs was one of the betting favorites to win the award, but he was right behind Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills.

Allen spent the preseason as the betting favorite to win MVP, but his odds have now fallen all the way down to +2500. Mahomes got off to a rough start to the year, but his odds have improved to +1200 due to a great run over the last few weeks.

It seems pretty unlikely that either of these players are going to win the MVP Award this season, but it’s been interesting to watch the odds change for each player. Allen and Mahomes should be in the mix to win the MVP Award for years to come.

Young QB’s In the Mix

The NFL MVP Award is often an award given to the best quarterback in the league. There are some terrific young quarterbacks currently starring in the NFL. It should come as no surprise that they have emerged as MVP contenders.

Dak Prescott, Kyler Murray, and Justin Herbert all currently have sports betting odds set at +1400 to win the award after having great seasons. All three quarterbacks should have their teams in the postseason this year, and that has helped them gain recognition as well.

Prescott, Murray, or Herbert might not come away with the award in 2021. Rest assured, their time is coming soon.

2022 Stanley Cup Betting Odds

The 2021-22 NHL season has been going on since October, but this sport doesn’t always get a ton of recognition since other sports are more popular. It has been a great start for a number of NHL teams, and it should be another exciting season.

The Stanley Cup betting odds have been changing since the season began, and these will continue to shift throughout the year. Here is a closer look at the current Stanley Cup betting odds.

Title Favorites

  • Colorado Avalanche +600
  • Florida Panthers +900
  • Tampa Bay Lightning +900
  • Vegas Golden Knights +1000

Four teams have emerged as the main title favorites to win the Stanley Cup. The Colorado Avalanche have been the favorites since the 2021 season ended, and they remain in that position to this day.

Florida and Tampa Bay are right on the heels of the Avalanche, and that has turned into a great battle in the Sunshine State. The Panthers are an up-and-coming team, while the Lightning have won two straight Stanley Cup championships.

The Vegas Golden Knights are another team that always seems to come up when discussing Stanley Cup title favorites. Vegas has come close in recent years but just haven’t been able to come through.

In the Hunt

  • Toronto Maple Leafs +1100
  • Carolina Hurricanes +1400
  • Calgary Flames +1600
  • Edmonton Oilers +1600
  • Washington Capitals +1600

If one of the four teams from the group of favorites fail, then you can expect a team from this group to make a run at the Stanley Cup. There are some terrific offensive teams on this list, but it also takes a great defensive effort to win the title.

Three teams from Canada are currently on the hunt, and each team will be interesting to follow throughout the year. The Carolina Hurricanes have seen their odds fall since the season began, but they will remain a threat.

Dark Horses

  • Boston Bruins +1800
  • Minnesota Wild +1800
  • St. Louis Blues +2400
  • Pittsburgh Penguins +2400
  • New York Rangers +2400
  • Dallas Stars +2800

This is where things really get interesting because any team from this group could have what it takes to win the Stanley Cup. There are some recent Stanley Cup champions in this group, including the Bruins, Blues, and Penguins.

Making the playoffs will be the first step for each team listed as a dark horse, but it would be a shock to see them not in the playoff field. The odds for some of these teams will be changing dramatically throughout the year.

Longshots

  • Winnipeg Jets +3000
  • Anaheim Ducks +4400
  • New York Islanders +5000
  • San Jose Sharks +6000
  • Nashville Predators +6000
  • Philadelphia Flyers +7000
  • New Jersey Devils +7000
  • Los Angeles Kings +8500

The Stanley Cup Playoffs usually feature a number of upsets, and that makes betting on the title interesting. Even though these teams are currently considered longshots, don’t be surprised to see one of them making some noise in the playoffs.

Out of this group, the Anaheim Ducks have been one of the biggest surprises, and that veteran group appears to be for real. Keep an eye on the odds for each team on this list as the season moves along.

Better Luck Next Year

  • Detroit Red Wings +10000
  • Columbus Blue Jackets +10000
  • Seattle Kraken +10000
  • Montreal Canadiens +15000
  • Chicago Blackhawks +15000
  • Ottawa Senators +15000
  • Vancouver Canucks +15000
  • Arizona Coyotes +15000
  • Buffalo Sabres +15000

One of the teams from this list could go on a big run and reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season, but that’s not likely. Most of these teams are going to be battling it out for a draft position in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Favorites, Darkhorses and Longshots to win Super Bowl LVI

The Super Bowl is just over two months away, and NFL Playoff races continue to heat up in each conference. Some Super Bowl contenders have made themselves clear while other teams are still playing their way back in the race.

Betting odds for the Super Bowl have been open since February, but they have been updating throughout the regular season. Here are the updated odds to win the Super Bowl, with the teams’ place in specific groups.

Title Favorites

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers +500
  • Kansas City Chiefs +650
  • Arizona Cardinals +750
  • Green Bay Packers +750
  • New England Patriots +750

The two betting favorites to win Super Bowl LVI should come as no surprise since they are the two teams that played in the Super Bowl a season ago. Tampa Bay is now the favorite at +500, but the Kansas City Chiefs are right behind them at +500.

Tampa Bay doesn’t always get great play out of the defense. But betting against Tom Brady in the postseason usually doesn’t work out. Kansas City has not been as explosive on offense this season, but they are still loaded with talent.

After those teams, there does appear to be a pretty clear gap. The Cardinals, Packers, and Patriots are all having great seasons, but they still have some issues.

A rematch in the Super Bowl is pretty uncommon in the NFL, and that’s why a team from outside of the top two could join the party. The New England Patriots have a ton of momentum, and their odds have been slashed in recent weeks.

Dark Horses

  • Buffalo Bills +1000
  • Los Angeles Rams +1200
  • Dallas Cowboys +1300
  • Baltimore Ravens +1600

There really are just two main betting favorites to win the Super Bowl, but that group included three other solid teams. The next category is full of four dark horse teams, and this is where things really get interesting.

The Buffalo Bills were a popular Super Bowl pick in the preseason, but they have been heading in the wrong direction. Buffalo has what it takes to go on a deep playoff run, but they have to get things turned around before the season ends.

The Los Angeles Rams are another team that has been hard to figure out. Los Angeles has made a number of moves to improve the roster, but that hasn’t translated into a dominating performance on the field.

Betting on the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens has also been popular with some bettors, and each team is having a great season. The problem for both franchises is that they have struggled to show up and play their best in the postseason.

Longshots

  • Los Angeles Chargers +2100
  • Tennessee Titans +2200
  • Cincinnati Bengals +3900
  • Indianapolis Colts +3900
  • San Francisco 49ers +4300

There are some teams in this group of longshots that still have some work to do before they even reach the 2021 NFL Playoffs. Other teams, like the Tennessee Titans, are leading their division but have some major injury concerns.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers proved last year that the Super Bowl could be won from the Wild Card spot, but that team also had Tom Brady. The Los Angeles Chargers have the best odds out of this group, but they are going to have to play well to get into the postseason.

It could be a wise move to take a flyer and bet on one of these teams, but it would be a pretty significant upset to see it pulled off. Keep an eye on these teams and the odds over the final few weeks of the regular season.

Updated Odds to win 2022 NCAA Basketball Tournament

The 2021-22 college basketball season is well underway, and the action has gotten off to an unbelievable start. Some of the best teams in the country are now making it a habit of playing each other, providing plenty of March Madness previews.

The betting odds to win the 2022 NCAA Basketball Tournament were released almost immediately after the Baylor Bears cut down the nets. These odds have changed a few times since that time, and that will continue to happen as the season rolls along.

Here are the updated odds to win the 2022 NCAA Basketball Tournament with some comments about certain teams.

Quick Look at the Odds:

  • Gonzaga Bulldogs +450
  • Purdue Boilermakers +750
  • Duke Blue Devils +800
  • Kansas +1400
  • UCLA +1400
  • Villanova +1400
  • Michigan +1500
  • Texas +1600
  • Kentucky +1800
  • Alabama +2000
  • Baylor +2000
  • Memphis +2200
  • Illinois +2200
  • Ohio State +2200
  • Arkansas +3000
  • Florida State +3000
  • Michigan State +3000
  • Everyone Else +3500 or Higher

Gonzaga-Duke Set For Rematch

The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Duke Blue Devils are two of the betting favorites to win the championship, and they will likely remain there throughout the season. Both programs are perennial Final Four contenders, and they aren’t afraid of playing some big games in the non-conference.

The Bulldogs and Blue Devils actually took the court against each other at the end of November. The result was an instant classic. Duke came away with an 84-81 victory in that game, but it likely won’t be the last time the teams meet up this season.

Gonzaga is likely going to be a Number 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament as they should walk through the West Coast Conference. Similarly, Duke will battle in the ACC, but the Blue Devils are inspired to win in Coach K’s final season.

Three other blue-blood programs; Kansas, UCLA, and Villanova, all have odds set at +1400 to win the title, and each team will be tough to beat in March.

Can Big Ten End the Streak?

The Michigan State Spartans were the last Big Ten team to win the NCAA Championship. That title came all the way back in 2000. While the Big Ten continues to be one of the best in the country, its members have continued to struggle once the NCAA Tournament begins.

You will notice that a number of teams from the Big Ten Conference are on the shortlist of betting favorites to win the NCAA Championship. The Purdue Boilermakers are at the top of the list as betting odds for that team have been slashed to +750.

The next Big Ten Conference team to be on the list is the Michigan Wolverines at +1500. Last season, Michigan was just one game away from the Final Four, and they are loaded once again.

Illinois, Ohio State, and Michigan State are also going to be tough teams to beat in March. The Big Ten Conference will be well-represented in the NCAA Tournament, but it remains to be seen if a team can go all the way.

Always Some Upsets

When betting on the NCAA Tournament, it’s important to remember that there are always going to be some upsets. This is why the tournament is called “March Madness,” and picking the eventual champion is something that isn’t easily done.

This could also lead to some big payouts when making this future wager. There is plenty of betting value on some teams further down the list. While there is a bigger risk involved with choosing an upset, it could be the right play at NCAA Tournament time.

Updated Betting Odds to Win the College Football Playoff

The college football regular season is over, but that only means that the fun is really beginning. It’s now time for college football bowl season, and all eyes are on the College Football Playoff.

Unlike most years, there were pretty clear top four teams, and that made the decision easy on the CFP Committee. The only debate was where to seed the top four teams. The betting odds also don’t reflect the order of the teams.

These betting odds have been changing throughout the season, but there won’t be much movement in the coming weeks leading up to the game. The field is set, and now the only thing left is to sit back and enjoy the games.

Here are the betting odds for each of the four teams that will be playing in the college football playoff.

Alabama Crimson Tide +120

Alabama enters the semifinals as the betting favorite, with odds set at +120. The Crimson Tide have seen their odds bounce around a ton over the last few weeks. Still, they became the favorite after winning the SEC Championship Game over the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Crimson Tide were in danger of missing out on the CFP altogether as they came in last weekend with one loss already to Texas A&M. Alabama is the defending national champion, and they look like a real threat to win again in a few weeks.

Quarterback Bryce Young has thrown 43 touchdowns to just four interceptions this year. He’s the betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy as well. Alabama is a 13.5-point favorite over the Cincinnati Bearcats in the CFP semifinals.

Georgia Bulldogs +130

The Georgia Bulldogs were considered the best team in the country all season long until they were dismantled in the SEC Championship Game. Georgia was giving up less than seven points per game before the loss to Alabama.

Georgia is right behind Alabama for betting odds to win the title, and the Bulldogs are loaded with talent. The Bulldogs were given the number three seed in the College Football Playoff, but they are still expected to reach the title game.

Georgia is a 7.5-point favorite over Michigan in what will be the second of two semifinal games played on New Year’s Eve.

Michigan Wolverines +800

Michigan comes into the CFP with a 12-1 record, and they absolutely destroyed Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game. Despite the best season in a decade for Michigan, the Wolverines still aren’t getting a ton of respect.

Michigan is rushing for more than 223 yards per game this season. They will have to run the football well to keep it close against Georgia. The Wolverines are coming into this game with some momentum, and taking them at +800 could lead to a pretty impressive payout.

Cincinnati Bearcats +1800

The Cincinnati Bearcats became the first team from the “Group of Five” to reach the College Football Playoff. A lot had to fall into place for this to happen. Despite being a perfect 13-0 on the year, Cincinnati is the fourth-ranked team in the playoff.

The Bearcats have an impressive road win over Notre Dame this season. However, the rest of their schedule was pretty light compared to other teams. Cincinnati is a massive underdog to win the title, with odds currently being offered at +1800.

Cincinnati is allowing just 16 points per game. That defense will have to take over this game if they want to upset the Crimson Tide.
